DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BUY ITS COVER
I believe that's the way the saying goes...
Let's face it, technology has advanced so much that nowadays
computers can appear on the outside to be very simple devices and
literally lull us to sleep with how "user-friendly" they are.
But don't let the "outside" user-friendliness gloss over the fact
that computers are very complex machines!
So complex in fact that if you're like the vast majority of computer
users today there are certain areas of your computer you wouldn't
touch with a 10-foot pole!
You see, that's the frustrating irony of using computers in today's
day and age. The most important areas of your computer, the areas
that are absolutely essential for your PC to run silky smooth as it
should, are also the areas that are incredibly complex and not
user-friendly at all!
One example would be your computer's Registry. Possibly you've heard
of this area before but chances are you've never actually modified
or fixed up your PC's Registry. I wouldn't recommend fiddling around
in the Registry anyway; one small mistake and you could zap your
computer for good. Here you'll find "class" files like DLL's, OCX's,
and a bunch more techie stuff that would make your head spin if we
kept on going!
The point is there are many more areas like this in your computer
you wouldn't dare mess around with because of the threat of
seriously screwing up your machine for good!
You can see why this is a really frustrating situation to be in for
95% of computer users out there today... completely powerless
really, totally at the mercy of these "hidden" files and areas they
know very little about.
I'm sure you've experienced this feeling firsthand. I know I
certainly have many, many times with my own PC. But honestly, is
there really anything you can do about it?
Up until now the solution of choice for most PC users was to simply
keep plugging along on their computers, silently crossing their
fingers and praying the computer gods have mercy on them and "spare"
their PC! Good News! You have My Computer
